Culinary and Catering Operations Manager

Key Responsibilities

  • Recruit, train, oversee, schedule, and lead the entire kitchen team in a bustling café and catering environment.
  • Ensure compliance with food safety regulations among all culinary staff.
  • Conduct quality assurance evaluations on dishes leaving the kitchen and engage in daily inspections to confirm freshness and proper preparation.
  • Manage food inventory, ensuring all essential ingredients are available for service and maintaining appropriate preparation levels.
  • Optimize kitchen workflows to ensure timely service delivery.
  • Establish and enforce regular sanitation standards within the kitchen.
  • Create preparation lists to assist kitchen staff and utilize catering sheets to outline prep requirements for catering events, ensuring all preparations are completed well in advance.
  • Develop kitchen schedules to enhance productivity while minimizing overtime.
  • Support the team by assisting with food preparation for both catering and café services.
  • Draft descriptions for new menu items and address any inquiries from front-of-house staff.
  • This role requires active participation in daily kitchen operations, including preparation and service, to meet organizational objectives.

Qualifications and Work Schedule

  • Demonstrated organizational and culinary expertise with a keen eye for detail.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Physical endurance to work on the line throughout a full shift, with the capability to lift up to 50 pounds safely.
  • A commitment to delivering exceptional culinary experiences.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize effectively, and adapt to varying business demands.
  • Standard working hours commence at 8 AM, with availability required on weekends. Compensation is reflective of a typical 45-hour work week.
  • Some shifts will necessitate working a station, while most days will involve being present on the line during peak service hours.
  • Work schedule may vary based on catering demands, with occasional evening shifts required during busy periods.
  • Salary is commensurate with experience and demonstrated competency in the role.
