Job Overview

As a Lead Sales Strategist, you will be responsible for providing visionary leadership and strategic guidance to meet sales and profitability objectives across multiple locations or a large-scale operation with sales exceeding $50M or involving significant complexities. You will formulate and propose innovative sales and marketing initiatives while establishing both short-term and long-term sales strategies. Your role will include overseeing a team of direct reports, typically with managerial duties.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Formulates and implements sales strategies to ensure customer satisfaction, achievement of assigned quotas, and development of a highly skilled and motivated workforce.
  • Collaborates with marketing teams to create and execute sales marketing programs and initiatives.
  • Establishes annual sales and gross profit objectives by applying marketing strategies and analyzing market trends and outcomes.
  • Sets sales targets by forecasting and developing quotas for various territories.
  • Anticipates expected sales volume and profitability for both existing and new product lines and clientele.
  • Maintains sales performance, product assortment, and pricing by staying informed about market supply and demand, evolving trends, economic indicators, and competitive landscape.
  • Directs order service operations by guiding account representatives and executives on quotations, proposals, project order management techniques, and resolving customer complaints.
  • Adjusts billing margins by monitoring costs, competition, and market conditions while negotiating cost parameters.
  • Leads sales personnel by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training team members.
  • Enhances sales team performance by coaching, planning, monitoring, and evaluating job outcomes.
  • Builds and nurtures relationships with key customers.
  • Enhances professional and technical knowledge by participating in educational workshops, reviewing industry publications, and engaging in professional organizations.
  • Forecasts and communicates complex details to senior management.
  • Works with internal support teams to ensure a positive customer experience.
  • Collaborates with suppliers to maintain customer relationships, provide staff training, and execute marketing initiatives.
  • Partners with various internal departments to address issues related to inventory and operations.
Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent required; Bachelor's Degree in Sales, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of professional sales experience in a relevant industry.
  • At least 3 years of experience managing a sales team and sales programs.
  • Strong understanding of business and management principles, including strategic planning and resource allocation.
  • Proven ability to deliver customer service excellence, including needs assessment and quality standards evaluation.
  • Exceptional verbal, written, analytical, persuasion, and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated teamwork, leadership, and adaptability.
  • Excellent time management and computer proficiency.
  • 7 years of relevant industry sales experience.
  • 5 years of experience managing teams and programs at a national, district, or regional level.
  • Willingness to travel up to 25% of the time.
Work Environment: Outside Sales - Primarily office-based, with potential travel to customer sites or warehouse facilities. Extended periods of driving may be required, with frequent stops and starts, and exposure to outdoor weather conditions.
