Job Summary:

As a Jet Press Operator at Navistar Direct Marketing, you will be responsible for operating high-speed printing equipment to produce custom-printed products. Your goal will be to meet or exceed estimating standards while maintaining the highest level of quality.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Job Preparation: Ensure all jobs have marked samples available as early as possible during the run.
  • Load Ticket Accuracy: Verify that load tickets are correct and all job-related information is completed and processed properly.
  • Quality Control: Monitor your work to ensure consistent quality throughout each job and notify your supervisor of any issues or concerns.
  • Job Completion: Ensure all job-related information is completed and processed properly, including counts on jackets, issuing stock, and waste calculation.
  • Departmental Procedures: Follow departmental quality control procedures and use quality control tools, such as densitometers, conductivity meters, and pH meters.
  • Log Book Maintenance: Use a log book to track issues for other shifts and maintenance, listing solutions used to rectify issues.
  • Paper Stock Management: Consistently keep paper stock usage under amounts allotted in the estimate.
  • Waste Calculation: Calculate waste correctly to prevent under and overruns.
  • Press Speed Management: Maintain press speeds within or above estimating standards without sacrificing quality.
  • Data Entry: Input accurate information into the data capture system and verify shift summary reports at the end of the shift.
  • Team Collaboration: Assist in teaching fellow team members new skills to improve the team and the company, and cross-train on other equipment when able.
  • Process Improvement: Improve systems and processes to increase productivity and reduce spoilage.
  • Time Management: Utilize time to ensure the highest level of production is achieved on a daily basis, including shift change and when changing loads.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Ensure materials are present to limit downtime and leave the next shift set up with adequate supplies to start their shift.
  • Downtime Utilization: Use downtime to improve the run ability of equipment.
  • Communication: Communicate job and equipment-related information to workers on other shifts verbally and using the log book.
  • Maintenance Scheduling: Ensure maintenance is performed per manufacturer's procedures.
  • Cleanliness and Organization: Keep the area and equipment clean and organized at all times.
  • Maintenance Logs: Keep maintenance logs up to date.
  • Equipment Readiness: Ensure the press is ready to perform at optimum performance at all times.
  • Repair Notification: Inform supervisors of needed repairs and maintenance.
  • Minor Repairs: Perform minor repairs.
  • Regular Maintenance: Perform regular maintenance on equipment as required each shift, daily, weekly, monthly, semi-annually, and annually.
  • Clean-up and Organization: Allow time at the end of the shift for clean-up and organization of the work area.
  • Equipment Operation: Operate the 'GFI AccuBlend' ink mixing machine.
  • Ink Management: Know how to convert ink parts into pounds.
  • Ink Room Maintenance: Ensure the ink room is kept clean and organized.
  • Ink Quality Control: Notify management when ink is low or having quality issues.
  • Safety Procedures: Know and follow all safety procedures.
  • Safe Equipment Operation: Operate all equipment in a safe manner.
  • Safety Promotion: Be proactive in regard to safety and encourage proper safety habits in others.
  • OSHA Compliance: Ensure the press and area are OSHA compliant.
  • Incident Reporting: Report work-related injuries to the supervisor.
  • Lockout/Tagout Procedures: Be aware of lockout/tagout procedures and able to follow them.
  • Hand Jack Storage: Store hand jacks safely in skids when not in use.
  • Safety Hazard Prevention: Prevent safety hazards, such as skids on edge, trip hazards, spills, etc.
  • Tardiness and Absenteeism: Control tardiness and the number of unscheduled days off.
  • Overtime: Work overtime when needed to satisfy customer demands.
  • Additional Duties: Perform other duties as required.
