JOB DESCRIPTION

Scope:
  • Understanding of coverage, terms, and conditions. Capability to provide coverage, terms, and conditions that ensure profitability for the organization while addressing customer needs.
  • Risk Evaluation. Proficiency in identifying risk exposures, unique or common hazards, and suitable controls. Skill in selecting risks based on exposure and risk assessment. Competence in analyzing claims and quantifying losses.
  • Financial Acumen. Comprehension of financial statements and ratios utilized in risk evaluation. Knowledge of insurance financial principles; the effect of underwriting choices on company assets. Ability to grasp credit risk and actuarial basics. Skill in understanding loss trends, loss triangles, and rate-making. Capability to quantify risk based on historical data and forecasting techniques.
  • Marketing and Communication. Proficiency in selling and negotiating to achieve profitability for the organization. Ability to deliver presentations and communicate effectively. Capacity to base communications on strategic insights. Skill in managing producer strategies.
  • Systems and Software. Competence in utilizing systems and software applications necessary for daily operations.
KEY OBJECTIVE: Under supervision, the primary responsibility is to underwrite individual risks.

MAJOR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: Responsibilities may include but are not limited to:
  • Soliciting new and renewal submissions from brokers
  • Determining terms and conditions and intricate rating plans
  • Binds coverage
  • Documenting the underwriting files
  • Managing more complex files and portfolios within underwriting authority
  • Guiding and mentoring junior personnel
