Job Title: Distribution Engineer

At Leidos, we're seeking a skilled Distribution Engineer to join our Power Delivery Services Team. As a valued team member, you'll have the opportunity to work on exciting projects, collaborate with industry-leading construction partners, and contribute to our reputation for high-quality work.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop design and construction work packages for electrical overhead and underground distribution systems for Leidos electric utility customers.
  • Collect field data to assist in developing work packages, with approximately 25-30% of your time spent in the field.
  • Review work provided by clients and assess requirements of scopes, interacting frequently with our customers.
  • Perform engineering calculations, including structural analysis, guying calculations, and voltage drop and flicker calculations.
  • Provide engineering support during construction, including post-construction reviews to ensure all applicable engineering and construction standards have been met.
  • Conduct root cause analysis of outages and mitigation using engineering principles and design.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor of Science or Associate Degree in an Engineering discipline (Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, or Industrial).
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.).
  • Ability to utilize a personal vehicle for customer-related travel, with reimbursement at IRS-approved rates.
  • Willingness to perform both field and office work, with the ability to work in outdoor environments.
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communications skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Relevant experience working directly with an electric utility or an electric utility consulting company performing electric distribution design engineering.
  • Experience with distribution design tools such as BOUD, Pole Foreman, Spida-Calc, O-Calc, or similar.
  • Knowledge of NESC Standards, ESRI, AutoCAD, and/or MicroStation, and GIS.
