Structural Engineer/EIT Job Description

At Stantec, we're seeking a talented Structural Engineer/EIT to join our Integrated Design team. As a key member of our team, you'll have the opportunity to work on a variety of projects within the Energy and Resource sector, ranging from studies to detail engineering projects in North America and across the world.

Your Key Responsibilities
  • Perform structural design and analysis to applicable codes, focusing on heavy industrial/energy infrastructure steel structures and concrete foundations.
  • Develop designs through sketches, hand calculations, and structural analysis software models.
  • Collaborate with Engineers and Designers to create fit-for-purpose designs that meet client needs and requests.
  • Interface with other disciplines and project management to execute projects per the project plan.
  • Prepare and coordinate project specifications, including construction documents.
  • Attend project coordination meetings with internal team members and/or clients.
  • Participate in value engineering and cost estimating.
Qualifications
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, along with excellent interpersonal abilities and a team-centered focus.
  • Enthusiastic, self-starter attitude with the ability to work independently.
  • Enthusiasm to expand structural engineering knowledge and a keen desire to work in a team environment.
  • Proficiency in SAP 2000, STAAD Pro, and/or RISA-3D.
  • Proficiency and experience with PLS-CADD, Transmission and Distribution design, and/or Electrical Substation structural design is a strong asset.
  • Experience in Heavy Industrial or the construction industry is an asset.
  • Knowledge of solids modeling and FEA (Inventor, SolidWorks, ANSYS, Abaqus, etc.) is an asset.
  • Willingness to travel to client sites and other Stantec offices is an asset.
Education and Experience
  • A Bachelor's degree in civil engineering with a focus on structural.
  • A Master's degree in civil engineering with a focus on structural is preferred.
  • 0 to 8 years of engineering experience in heavy industry.
  • Registered EIT or PE in at least one US state.
