Job Title: Head Art Museum Security Supervisor

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Head Art Museum Security Supervisor to join our team at Princeton University. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing administrative and management oversight of our security operations, ensuring the safety and security of our museum and its collections, as well as providing a positive customer service experience for all visitors.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Patrol Operations: Exercise operational command responsibility over Museum security personnel and supervise patrol within guidelines set by the Assistant Vice President of Public Safety, the Associate Director (AD) of Support Services, SOM/ASOM, and in consultation with the Museum Director/designee.
  • Staff Development & Performance Management: Evaluate the performance of all staff and work with the CPSS and the SOM/ASOM to recommend or develop training in response to community and DPS needs.
  • Administration: Serve as liaison with various campus stakeholders/representatives, administer Museum access database, approve time collection for bi-weekly employees, and coordinate payroll with the DPS Budget Manager/designee.
  • Event Management: Participate in the Museum's Events Team relative to event planning, programming, and staffing, coordinate with Transportation and Parking Services (TPS) to provide parking assistance to staff, volunteers, donors, and visitors, including for special events.
  • Control Room Management: Responsible for overall supervision of all control room activities, monitor, revise and enforce key control and visitor access and badging processes, and make policy suggestions as needed.
  • Emergency: Participate in the Museum's Risk Management Committee, support the Museum's After-Hours emergency communications in cooperation with DPS supervisors, and respond to University emergencies such as security and fire incidents and building evacuations.
Requirements:
  • MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: High School Diploma or equivalent, three to five years of progressively responsible security experience, including customer service and supervisory experience, preferably in a higher education or museum environment.
  • PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Previous experience in a museum or art gallery, Associate or bachelor's degree or equivalent.
Working Conditions:

The successful candidate must be able to work ALL shifts, including weekends, holidays, and overtime shifts, as required. The physical demands of this position are more than those for sedentary work, and the candidate must be able to remain on feet for periods of time, stoop, kneel, crouch, lift, carry, push, pull, climb, balance, walk, and run.
