Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Research Contracts Specialist to join our team at UT Southwestern Medical Center.

About the Role

The successful candidate will work closely with our Sponsored Programs department to provide subject matter expertise and understanding related to research-related agreements. This includes drafting, reviewing, and executing contracts with sponsors and sub-recipients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Draft and review contract documents, revising language to meet legal requirements and University policies.
  • Negotiate contract terms with other parties, communicating with various levels of legal and business professionals.
  • Maintain communication with University stakeholders, including faculty, administration, and executive staff.
  • Interpret contract terms and conditions, handling requests and approval processes for amendments or contract extensions.
  • Provide principal legal review of contracts and determine the need for involvement from the Office of the Vice President for Legal Affairs.
  • Manage contracts after execution to ensure contractor performance compliance.
  • Draft correspondence related to the contract negotiation process.
  • Participate in the solicitation process prior to contract award and provide guidance to the evaluation team.
  • Provide guidance and training for Contracts Specialists and Contract Administrators.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A Bachelor's degree in business administration, public administration, or a related field.
  • At least six years' experience in business or public administration with an emphasis on customer service in a financial or contracting position.
  • Advanced degree (Master's or Juris Doctor) preferred.
  • Completion of State of Texas Contract Management certification (CTCM), which may be obtained after hiring.
