About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and organized Administrative Assistant to support the Chief Housing Officer (CHO) in the Housing and Residence Life (HRL) department at George Mason University. The successful candidate will provide administrative support, manage office operations, and ensure the smooth functioning of the HRL team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide administrative support to the CHO, including managing calendars, coordinating meetings, and preparing reports.
  • Manage office operations, including maintaining records, ordering supplies, and coordinating travel arrangements.
  • Assist with special events and program planning, including coordinating logistics and communicating with stakeholders.
  • Provide customer service support to HRL's front desk operations, including answering phone calls and responding to emails.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the CHO or other HRL staff members.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience within a higher education setting, typically obtained in 3+ years.
  • Experience as an administrative assistant or similar role, typically obtained in 2+ years.
  • Demonstrated organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Software package.
  • Ability to exercise judgement and initiative while maintaining a high level of confidentiality.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented, and fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in related field.
  • Prior experience in Housing & Residence Life in a higher education setting.
  • Knowledge of higher education, student affairs and/or housing and residence life operations.
