Position Overview

The State of Vermont is in search of a Financial Director to lead its financial initiatives within the Buildings & General Services Department. This pivotal role involves overseeing all financial activities and crafting strategies to meet program objectives and ensure successful outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Direct and manage all fiscal operations.
  • Develop and implement financial strategies to achieve both short-term and long-term goals.
  • Provide expert advice to leadership on financial decision-making.
  • Conduct complex financial analyses, modeling, and reporting.
  • Foster effective relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders.
  • Adapt to a dynamic and fast-paced work environment.

Qualifications:

Applicants should possess a Master of Business Administration (MBA) or hold a certified financial planner (CFP) certification. A hybrid telework arrangement may be available based on departmental needs.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Master's degree in accounting, business, public administration, or a related field with one year of relevant experience.
  • OR a Bachelor's degree in accounting or a related discipline with 20 credit hours in accounting and two years of relevant experience.
  • OR an Associate's degree with four years of relevant experience.
  • OR a high school diploma with seven years of relevant experience.
  • OR one year as a Financial Manager III with the State of Vermont.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience in managing extensive fiscal operations is advantageous for some positions.

Special Requirements:

Familiarity with the VISION system, the State of Vermont's financial management platform, may be necessary for certain roles.
