Position Overview

The Plant Controller I plays a pivotal role in managing the financial and accounting operations of a manufacturing facility. This position is integral to the leadership team, providing essential business insights and financial guidance. Key responsibilities encompass the establishment of proficient accounting teams, ensuring the precision of monthly financial outcomes, conducting financial analyses, overseeing financial reporting, managing capital expenditures, and preparing comprehensive budgets and forecasts while maintaining robust internal controls.

Work Schedule: Onsite Monday to Thursday from 7:00 am to 4:30 pm, with remote work on Fridays from 7:00 am to 11:00 am.

Core Responsibilities

Financial Reporting and Analysis – 50%

  • Direct and manage the financial accounting functions of the plant in alignment with corporate policies and objectives.
  • Provide monthly updates to the Group Controller and management, including detailed analyses of actual results, variances, and key performance indicators.
  • Advise plant management on accounting matters, revenue recognition, and expense control.
  • Prepare forecasts for major financial categories, identifying trends and leading indicators.
  • Enhance forecasting accuracy while optimizing inventory levels and improving service delivery.
  • Establish key performance metrics to evaluate plant performance.
  • Identify financial performance gaps, conduct thorough analyses, and recommend actionable solutions.
  • Review and assess costs associated with key products, analyzing variances and proposing profit enhancement strategies.

Business Strategy – 30%

  • Lead strategic planning initiatives to ensure profitable growth and identify new business opportunities.
  • Oversee the annual financial planning process, collaborating with business unit management.
  • Engage with key stakeholders to explore operational improvements.
  • Provide financial insights for capital project evaluations, ensuring sound financial justification.
  • Assist in developing compensation plans that promote desired behaviors and monitor their effectiveness.
  • Participate in product cost analysis and monitor project metrics.
  • Act as the financial lead in vendor acquisition processes, ensuring thorough financial assessments.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Ensure financial reporting consistency with corporate standards.
  • Develop processes to proactively monitor key financial drivers.
  • Ensure compliance with accounting standards and internal controls.
  • Review major contracts for financial implications prior to execution.
  • Design and implement effective financial and operational reporting systems.
  • Establish mechanisms for tracking cost savings and contract adherence.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in finance or accounting is required.
  • Over 10 years of finance and accounting experience, including:
    • Financial reporting and analysis expertise.
    • Direct management of financial processes.
    • Experience overseeing internal controls.
  • Background in the manufacturing sector is essential.
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel is mandatory.
Skills and Competencies
  • Strong knowledge of cost accounting principles.
  • Proficient in analyzing financial and operational results.
  • Expertise in accounting theory and financial principles.
  • Highly skilled in financial modeling and forecasting.
  • Proficient in financial analysis software.
  • Able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Understanding of international accounting standards.
  • Project management capabilities.
  • Ability to influence cross-functional teams.
  • Familiarity with Sarbanes-Oxley compliance.
  • Experience in process improvement initiatives.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Experience with Oracle and Cognos is advantageous.

Pay range for this position is $115,000 annually, with eligibility for bonus participation. Compensation is determined based on various factors, including local labor market conditions, relevant experience, education, and certifications.
