ED Support Technician

The Emergency Department (ED) Technician plays a vital role in providing emergency care under the supervision of nursing staff. This position requires knowledge of basic patient care standards and medical technology.
Key Responsibilities- Assist with patient care duties, including collecting vital signs, weight, and other relevant data.
- Recognize and report abnormal data or findings promptly.
- Implement physician, provider, and nursing orders responsibly and document interventions according to hospital protocol.
- Provide direct technical care, including helping with mobility, toileting, feeding, and other personal care needs.
- Perform phlebotomy to obtain venous blood samples and deliver specimens for laboratory review.
- Assist with patient transportation and education.
- Communicate effectively with nurses, physicians, and other healthcare team members to gather and exchange information related to patient care.
- Knowledge and expertise of nursing and patient care standards and procedures.
- Relational skills required to interact effectively with patients and staff.
- Ability to follow established safety, infection control, environmental, and isolation practices and procedures at all times.
- Must be able to read, write, and follow instructions and flow chart protocols.
- Must be able to communicate thoughts clearly, both through speech and in writing.
- General computer skills, including using required software applications, data entry, information security, electronic medical documentation, handheld scanning, and email.

Qualifications- EDUCATION - H.S. Diploma/GED Equivalent
- EXPERIENCE - 1 Year of Experience
- CERTIFICATION/LICENSE/REGISTRATION - Basic Life Support (BLS): BLS or BLS within 30 days of hire or transfer.
