Job Summary:

The Grand America Hotel is seeking a skilled and customer-focused Front Desk Agent to provide exceptional service to our guests. As a key member of our front office team, you will be responsible for managing all aspects of guest accommodations, including registration, reservations, and information about rooms, rates, and amenities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Guest Check-In and Check-Out: Greet and complete established check-in procedures for arriving guests on a daily basis, using both manual and computerized methods, to ensure guests are satisfied and in rooms as requested.
  • Front Desk Operations: Facilitate guest departure (check-out) on a daily basis by following established manual and computer procedures to close guest accounts and open the room for the next sale.
  • Cash Handling and Accounting: Regularly calculate and/or post monies, receipts, guest accounts, and other forms of credit using accurate, proper cash handling methods and established procedures to present the customer with timely and precise hotel charges upon check-out and maintain accurate hotel records.
  • Customer Service and Sales: Courteously answer inquiries and accept reservations, both in person and by telephone, by accurately communicating hotel rates and information and by using suggestive selling techniques to sell room nights, increase occupancy, and revenue.
  • Guest Relations and Communication: Maintain good customer relations by keeping abreast of all in-house and area functions to answer questions and concerns with timely and knowledgeable responses, in person and on the telephone.
  • Cash Control and Security: Control cash transactions at the front desk and maintain complete responsibility for personal bank as specified by hotel bank agreement policy.
  • Teamwork and Adaptability: Maintain a friendly, cheerful, and courteous demeanor at all times and perform other duties as assigned, requested, or deemed necessary by management.
  • Mail and Message Processing: Process all guest mail, messages, and faxes by receiving, sorting, notifying, and distributing to mailboxes and to guests in order to ensure the information is received by the guests in the most timely and accurate method possible.

Requirements:

  • Experience: Experience in OPERA preferred.
  • Communication Skills: Must possess excellent communication skills.
  • Teamwork and Adaptability: Ability to work as part of a team and follow instructions.
  • Physical Demands: Ability to meet the physical demands of the job, staying on your feet for 8 hours of scheduled shift.
  • Interpersonal and Customer Service Skills: Excellent interpersonal, communication, and customer service skills.
