Job Opportunity

Hoyle Tanner and Associates, Inc. is seeking a highly skilled Project Engineer to join our Ground Transportation Division.

This is an exciting opportunity to work with a large team of transportation design professionals who are dedicated to delivering innovative, cost-effective, and quality solutions that enhance the communities we serve.

The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing calculations, layouts, estimates, and specifications under the guidance of senior engineers and project managers. They will also lead and guide junior engineers and CADD teammates.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Contribute to an integrated, multi-discipline team that solves complex technical challenges on projects of significant scope, size, and difficulty.
  • Complete assignments accurately and on time with minimal direction from the Project Manager.
  • Develop an understanding of project budget, scope of services, project development, and project schedule, and provide updates and recommendations to the Project Manager to maintain schedule and budget.
  • Understand the client's organization, key personnel, and client expectations.
  • Share best practices to improve performance and efficiency of self and team.
  • Develop person-hour estimates and budgets with guidance from senior staff.
  • Lead small teams for moderately complex projects.
  • Assist in proposal efforts and development.
  • Provide coaching, mentoring, and feedback to develop entry-level and staff engineers, peers, and others as needed.
  • Conduct site visits and participate in or lead meetings with clients/contractors.
  • Demonstrate strong technical writing and presentation skills for deliverables, proposals, and presentations in a public setting.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering required, Master's Degree in Civil Engineering preferred.
  • 5-10 years of relevant experience.
  • Current Professional Engineer (PE) license in NH, MA, ME, or VT.
  • Experience with MaineDOT, NHDOT, VTrans, or MassDOT highway projects.
  • Proficient in Microstation, AutoCAD, HydroCAD, Civil 3D, ArcView, In Roads, WORD, Excel, and MS Project.
