Position Overview

Role Summary: The primary responsibility of the Student Transport Operator is to safely drive a school bus, ensuring the secure transport of students within the Central Community Unit School District 301 to and from educational facilities and related events. This role demands a commitment to professionalism and adherence to all applicable laws and regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain a valid commercial driver's license with all necessary endorsements as mandated by state and federal guidelines.
  • Comply with all traffic regulations and enforce safety protocols specific to school transportation.
  • Uphold the standards and regulations established by the Board of Education.
  • Arrive punctually to commence assigned routes or trips.
  • Perform pre-trip inspections in line with Department of Transportation requirements and report any mechanical issues to the appropriate personnel.
  • Conduct post-trip evaluations to confirm that no students or belongings are left on the bus.
  • Ensure that students are properly secured when safety devices are utilized on the bus.
  • Maintain fuel levels at a minimum of half a tank.
  • Keep the assigned bus clean and orderly.
  • Manage student behavior effectively and report any disciplinary issues to school administrators immediately following the route.
  • Execute additional duties as required.
