Job Title: Advanced Practice Professional (PA) Pediatric Cardiac Surgery

Michigan Medicine is seeking a highly skilled Advanced Practice Professional (PA) to join our team in Pediatric Cardiac Surgery. As a key member of our interdisciplinary team, you will provide high-quality patient care, education, and research in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with the Pediatric Cardiothoracic Intensive Care Unit (PCTU) and General and Moderate Care (11W) team to manage acute and critically ill pre and post-surgical infants and children with congenital/acquired heart disease.
  • Perform detailed history and physical examinations, order and interpret diagnostic tests, radiographs, and clinical studies.
  • Order/prescribe and titrate medications, perform various diagnostic, therapeutic, and minor surgical procedures.
  • Maintain continuity of care, collaborate with providers/consultants to coordinate clinical care, and document patient status, evaluation, and treatment plan.
  • Facilitate patient transfer across levels of care, provide education for patients, families, and staff, and participate in quality assurance activities.
Requirements:
  • Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant certification.
  • Current licensure to practice as a Registered Nurse and Nurse Practitioner specialty certification in the State of Michigan.
  • Current specialty certification to practice as an Acute Care Pediatric Nurse Practitioner.
  • Graduation from an accredited Nurse Practitioner program.
  • Certification as a Nurse Practitioner recognized by the National Council of State Boards of Nursing (NCSBN).
  • Current DEA registration required.
  • AHA approved PALS certification or the ability to obtain prior to employment.
  • Two (2) years of recent clinical practice experience in pediatric cardiac intensive care unit, cardiology, or pediatric intensive care unit setting.
