About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic and fast-paced environment, collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to deliver high-quality patient care. As an Advanced Practice Professional, you will be responsible for coordinating care for acutely ill post-surgical adult patients in the Cardiovascular ICU setting.

Responsibilities
  • Under physician supervision, coordinate care for acutely ill post-surgical adult patients admitted to the CVICU setting.
  • Perform diagnostic and therapeutic tasks for cardiac, vascular, and thoracic procedures, including heart, lung transplantation, and ventricular assist devices.
  • Collect and present patient histories, diagnostic reports, and interpret tests.
  • Manage pre- and post-surgery CVICU patient care.
  • Collect and interpret reports from diagnostic lab tests, radiographic procedures, and clinical studies.
  • Order tests and prescribe medications.
  • Perform various diagnostic, therapeutic, and minor procedures, based on privileges.
  • Assist in training new residents and APP fellows.
  • Communicate with care teams, maintain accurate documentation, and educate patients and families.
  • Streamline patient transfers and participate in quality assurance and research activities.
Requirements

To be considered for this position, you must have a current license to practice as a Registered Nurse and Nurse Practitioner specialty certification in the State of Michigan. You must also have a graduate degree from an accredited Nurse Practitioner program and certification as a Nurse Practitioner recognized by the National Council of State Boards of Nursing (NCSBN).
