Talent Acquisition Specialist

Job Summary:
The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) is seeking a highly skilled Talent Acquisition Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our Human Resources department, you will play a crucial role in identifying and attracting top talent to fill current and future roles within our organization.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute creative and advanced sourcing strategies to identify top talent and build robust candidate pipelines.
- Collaborate with hiring managers and other HR professionals to execute talent acquisition services and provide expert advice on recruitment best practices.
- Conduct training on interviewing and selection procedures, and engage in various talent outreach responsibilities to include career fairs and active and passive candidate outreach.
- Build and maintain a database of applicants and skill sets for current and future needs, and generate reports and data to assist with hiring needs and challenges.
- Collaborate with HR Consultants and Workforce Development to ensure effective onboarding and maximize new hire success.
Requirements:
- Demonstrated success with candidate recruitment across multiple disciplines, with experience in utilizing traditional and non-traditional recruiting techniques.
- Ability to develop strategies to improve customer services, program efficiency and effectiveness, and function as a team member with other HR staff.
- Ability to analyze data and reach conclusions which are logical and legally supportable, and counsel and advise managers and employees in the resolution of HR issues.
- Strong skills in use of computers using MS software, web-based applications and automated HRIS systems.
- Extensive knowledge of the principles, practices of talent sourcing, recruiting, screening, selecting, hiring and on-boarding job candidates.
- Working knowledge of human resources functional areas and business practices.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced and innovative environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP or PHR, SPHR certification.
- A combination of training, experience or education in Data Analytics, Human Resources, Business, Communications, Marketing Research or related field.
- Recruitment or candidate sourcing experience within a similar fast-paced environment.
- Several years of experience in sourcing and social media recruiting using applications.
