Position Overview

The Registered Nurse plays a crucial role in delivering high-quality patient care within the specialty pharmacy environment. This position involves comprehensive assessments, medication administration, and patient education to ensure optimal health outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conducts thorough initial and ongoing evaluations for each patient to monitor their health status.
  • Maintains and observes Venous Access Device sites, ensuring compliance with established protocols.
  • Administers prescribed medications while adhering to federal and state regulations, ensuring patient safety and medication stability.
  • Follows the seven rights of medication administration to minimize the risk of errors.
  • Performs venous punctures and manages venous access devices in accordance with industry standards, providing education to patients and families.
  • Continuously assesses patient conditions, updating care plans and communicating significant changes to the healthcare team.
  • Monitors patients during medication infusions, educating them and their caregivers on potential effects and self-monitoring techniques.
  • Evaluates and manages patient pain, providing education on pain management strategies.
  • Ensures a safe patient care environment, reducing the likelihood of healthcare errors.
  • Promotes a culture of safety and quality within the organization.
  • Collaborates with physicians to obtain necessary orders and reassesses the need for ongoing care.
  • Documents all communications and care activities accurately and timely.
  • Labels all medical supplies and medications appropriately, following established guidelines.
  • Provides comprehensive education to patients and caregivers regarding treatment plans and ongoing care.
  • Obtains and communicates lab results to physicians as necessary.
  • Adheres to infection control protocols and maintains aseptic techniques.
  • Ensures the availability of necessary supplies and equipment for patient care.
  • Participates in ongoing training and staff meetings to enhance professional development.
  • Follows all organizational policies regarding documentation and billing.
Qualifications:

  • Current RN license in good standing in California.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Preferred certifications include CRNI or IGNC.
  • Membership in a professional organization for infusion nurses is advantageous.
  • Valid driver's license and insurance required.
  • Background check submission is mandatory.
Physical Requirements:

  • Able to perform physical tasks such as walking, kneeling, and assisting patients.
  • Capable of safely managing weights exceeding 100 pounds.
  • Vision and hearing must be within normal limits.
  • Manual dexterity and strength necessary for various nursing tasks.
