Restaurant Sous Chef Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Restaurant Sous Chef to join our team at Lessing's Hospitality Group. As a key member of our culinary team, you will be responsible for assisting the Executive Chef in the preparation and presentation of high-quality dishes, while maintaining the highest standards of food safety and hygiene.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the Executive Chef to develop and implement menus that meet the restaurant's vision and policy.
  • Design and create new dishes that appeal to our clients and meet their requirements.
  • Establish and manage kitchen operations to ensure smooth service delivery.
  • Produce high-quality dishes that meet the established menu and standards.
  • Plan and execute food design to create a perfect match between the dish's appearance and taste.
  • Identify and train talented chefs to meet the high standards of the location.
  • Train auxiliary kitchen staff to provide best results in minimum time and maximize available resources.
  • Maintain order and discipline in the kitchen during working hours.
  • Create tasting menus for clients interested in contracting food for events.
  • Ensure hygiene and food safety standards are met throughout food preparation.
  • Monitor and maintain professional equipment to prevent malfunctions.

Requirements:

  • 3+ years of experience in a similar role.
  • Culinary degree preferred.

Salary Range (NY only): $62,400 - $80,000
