About the Sous Chef Role

We're seeking a highly skilled and motivated Sous Chef to join our culinary team at Ashland Hills Hotel. As a key member of our kitchen operations, you'll work closely with the Executive Chef to lead our culinary team and ensure that every dish meets our high standards of quality and presentation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with the Executive Chef to develop innovative menus and recipes that showcase our culinary expertise
  • Lead and mentor our team of line cooks, fostering a positive and productive kitchen environment that promotes growth and development
  • Oversee food production, ensuring efficiency, quality, and timeliness in our kitchen operations
  • Step up as head of the kitchen in the Executive Chef's absence, demonstrating leadership and problem-solving skills
  • Manage inventory, place orders, and maintain cost-effective operations that support our business goals
  • Uphold the highest standards of food safety and hygiene, ensuring a clean and safe working environment for our team
  • Create daily specials and contribute to menu planning, staying up-to-date with culinary trends and seasonal ingredients
  • Participate in staff training and development, sharing your expertise and knowledge with our team
Requirements
  • 3+ years of culinary experience in a professional kitchen, with a strong background in menu planning and kitchen operations
  • Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire our culinary team
  • Creativity and passion for culinary arts, with a commitment to excellence and attention to detail
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle pressure with grace, while maintaining a positive attitude and a focus on customer satisfaction
  • Flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends and holidays, with a willingness to adapt to changing circumstances
  • Knowledge of food safety regulations and health standards, with a commitment to upholding the highest standards of food safety and hygiene
  • Team player with a positive attitude, who is committed to working collaboratively with our culinary team to achieve our business goals
