About the Role
The Project Engineer is a key member of our Development team at BHC, responsible for independently performing the design and drawing production aspect of engineering projects. This role requires technical proficiency, making technical evaluations, and applying engineering judgment and decisions for the timely and accurate completion of assigned projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Define customer requirements and ensure conformity to contractual specifications
- Coordinate and control internal and external interfaces
- Serve as the technical point of contact for customers and partners
- Identify alternatives and optimization opportunities during the design stage
- Validate schematics and documentation for specific project aspects
- Coordinate feedback from design, site, and client teams
- Prepare proposal estimates for quality projects
- Negotiate supplemental changes to existing contracts
- Produce clear and attractive plans with minimal supervision
- Maintain design and drawing accuracy, quality, and schedule compliance
- Monitor construction progress and review contractor change orders
- Follow up with clients on outstanding invoices
- Seek increasing levels of responsibility and professional development
- Maintain client relationships and establish new ones through business development activities
Requirements
- 4+ years of experience in a similar field
- Experience as an Engineer with demonstrated success completing projects
- Experience in the Development/Public Works/Utilities industry preferred
- Experience with a public agency, one of our clients, or another consulting firm
- Ability to work cooperatively in a highly interactive project team setting
Preferred Qualifications
- Proficiency in three-dimensional computer-aided design
- Strong technical expertise
- Ability to lead design on large or complex projects
- Self-starter with strong communication skills
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering required
- Licensed Professional Engineer
- Masters degree is a plus
