Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Resident Services Assistant to join our team at the YWCA SHR Emergency Shelter. Under the general supervision of the Shelter Manager, this role will assist in providing basic need services to victims of violence, ensuring a safe and supportive environment for our clients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide trauma-informed crisis intervention, information, and referrals to shelter clients as requested.
  • Offer shelter orientation services to shelter guests, ensuring a smooth transition into our care.
  • Maintain shelter supplies, living spaces, and distribution of donated items, promoting a clean and comfortable environment.
  • Deliver education on the dynamics of sexual assault, domestic violence, stalking, and human trafficking, empowering clients with knowledge and resources.
  • Collect and analyze statistical data, providing valuable insights to YWCA SHR staff.
  • Maintain client confidentiality in accordance with our Confidentiality policy, upholding the trust of our clients.
  • Adhere to our Mandated Reporter policy, collaborating with law enforcement, forensic, and medical personnel to ensure client safety.
  • Participate in ongoing training and education on interpersonal violence, community resources, and medical personnel, staying up-to-date on best practices.
  • Attend in-service training and staff meetings as scheduled, fostering a collaborative and supportive team environment.
Requirements
  • Minimum sixty (60) hours of college credits, with coursework in psychology, social work, human services, or a related field, or the equivalent of 2 years of related experience.
  • Must be 18 years of age.
  • Must complete the training programs of YWCA SHR.
  • Must complete a successful background check.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge of the dynamics of sexual assault and domestic violence.
  • Experience working with persons with disabilities, mental health concerns, and chronic homelessness.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including spreadsheets.
  • Self-starter with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to maintain a calm and supportive demeanor at all times.
  • Non-judgmental attitude, sensitive to confidential information.
  • Professional and caring attitude, reflecting the philosophy of YWCA SHR.
Work Environment

This position is located at the YWCA SHR Emergency Shelter, a 24-hour facility. Hours are available in 8-hour shifts to include weekends 7am-3pm, 3pm-11pm, and 11pm-7am.

Compensation

This is a non-exempt part-time, hourly position, with a pay range of $16 - $17 per hour. Weekly hours vary, not to exceed 29 hours per week.
