Job Title: Sports Development CoachAbout the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Sports Development Coach to join our team at the Sulphur Springs YMCA. As a Sports Development Coach, you will be responsible for providing leadership to sports participants and parents in achieving a quality sports program for ages 3 through adults.

The ideal candidate will have a strong passion for sports development, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in a team environment. You will be responsible for designing and delivering sports clinics, ensuring the highest quality of service and level of professionalism, and promoting a positive and inclusive culture within the organization.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and deliver sports clinics, including group skill training and instruction.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to sports participants and parents, promoting a positive and inclusive culture.
  • Ensure the highest quality of service and level of professionalism, maintaining a safe and healthy environment for all participants.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with local sports organizations, schools, and community groups, promoting the Sulphur Springs YMCA's sports development programs.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of sports development strategies, aligning with the organization's mission and goals.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to deliver high-quality sports development programs, promoting a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A minimum of 2 years of experience coaching and/or training in sports.
  • A strong working knowledge of games rules and the use of equipment for specific sports.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • The ability to develop positive, authentic relationships with groups and/or individuals from different backgrounds.
  • Current certifications in community CPR/AED and First Aid, with a willingness to maintain and update certifications as required.
Work Environment and Physical Demands

The Sports Development Coach will work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, with regular interaction with sports participants, parents, and colleagues. The ideal candidate will be able to:

  • Work effectively in a variety of environments, including indoor and outdoor spaces.
  • Use a computer for extended periods of time and be able to communicate using a computer and authorized work phone/smart device.
  • Instruct and observe participants during program activities, using a high level of physical fitness and agility.
  • Perform all physical aspects of the position, including leading class, walking, standing, bending, reaching, and lifting.
