Swim Coach

The Tampa YMCA is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Assistant Swim Coach to join our Competitive Swim Team. As a key member of our coaching staff, you will assist in the delivery of our swim programs, develop and recruit swimmers, and contribute to the overall success of our team.

• Assist in the implementation of workouts and training plans to enhance swimmer performance.
• Supervise practices and dry land sessions to ensure a safe and effective learning environment.
• Evaluate swimmer ability and performance, and develop strategies to improve their skills.
• Collaborate with YMCA swim instructors to progress swimmers from our swim lesson program to our Developmental Swim Team.
• Ensure compliance with all safety guidelines and recommendations, including those set by the Tampa YMCA and USA Swimming.
• Recruit and retain athletes to our Competitive Swim Team.
• Communicate effectively with supervisors, participants, and their families to ensure a positive and supportive team environment.
• Establish and maintain a team attitude, promoting good sportsmanship and a positive team culture.
• Attend specified competitions, trainings, and special events to support our team's success.
• Participate in all required staff meetings and training sessions.

• Must be at least 16 years of age.
• 1+ year of experience in competitive swimming and/or teaching a swim lesson.

• Must obtain within 30 days of employment and maintain current certifications in BLS CPR/AED, First Aid, and Oxygen Administration.
• YMCA Swim Lesson Instructor certification within 60 days for non-USA Swimming certified coaches.
