About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Human Resource Consultant to join our team at InsideHigherEd. As a key member of our HR department, you will play a critical role in providing expert advice and guidance on human resource management, employee relations, and talent acquisition.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide comprehensive human resource advice and counsel to leadership, management, faculty, and staff on a wide range of employment practices, procedures, and policies.
  • Develop and implement effective employee relations strategies to foster a positive and productive work environment.
  • Collaborate with leadership and management to resolve performance challenges, address workplace concerns, and conduct investigations.
  • Support training and development efforts, guide performance management, and advise on recruitment, classification, and compensation matters.
  • Contribute to program or policy development and organizational analysis, and provide expertise on labor laws, collective bargaining agreements, and contracts.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in business, human resources, or related area and three (3) years of professional experience as a human resource generalist/specialist.
  • Experience handling complex employee relations issues, including conflict resolution, conducting investigations, and reporting findings.
  • Demonstrated effective interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.
  • Demonstrated experience interpreting, explaining, and applying state and federal laws, rules, policies, and procedures.
  • Experience interacting with large groups and individuals at all work levels.
  • Demonstrated commitment to valuing diversity and contributing to an inclusive working environment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in recruitment, classification, compensation, employee relations, labor relations, training and development, reasonable accommodation, Fair Labor Standards Act, and Family Medical Leave Act.
  • Professional certification from a recognized human resource/personnel association.
  • Human Resource experience in a higher education setting.
