About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Human Resource Consultant to join our team at InsideHigherEd. As a key member of our Human Resource Services department, you will play a critical role in providing expert advice and guidance on human resource management practices, procedures, and policies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide comprehensive human resource advice and counsel to leadership, management, faculty, and staff on a wide range of employment practices, procedures, and policies.
  • Serve assigned areas within InsideHigherEd, utilizing your knowledge of laws, policies, regulations, and procedures to support HR employee relations.
  • Work closely with assigned leadership and management to foster a collaborative and productive workplace through open communication and promoting best practices in areas of:
    • Resolving performance challenges and addressing workplace concerns;
    • Managing corrective and disciplinary actions and conducting personnel investigations;
    • Supporting training and development efforts and guiding performance management;
    • Advising on recruitment, classification, and compensation matters;
    • Contributing to program or policy development and organizational analysis;
    • Other matters related to human resource management.
  • Collaborate with a team of HR professionals to elevate the overall employment experience at InsideHigherEd.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in business, human resources, or related area and three (3) years of professional experience as a human resource generalist/specialist.
  • Any combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis.
  • Experience handling complex employee relations issues, including conflict resolution, conducting investigations and reporting findings, corrective and disciplinary actions, and compliance with labor laws.
  • Demonstrated effective interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.
  • Demonstrated experience interpreting, explaining, and applying state and federal laws, rules, policies, and procedures, including labor laws, collective bargaining agreements, and contracts.
  • Experience interacting with large groups and individuals at all work levels.
  • Demonstrated commitment to valuing diversity and contributing to an inclusive working environment.
  • Demonstrated commitment to customer service and the application of appropriate flexibility in response to issues and opposing points of view.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in any of the following areas: recruitment, classification, compensation, employee relations, labor relations, training and development, reasonable accommodation, Fair Labor Standards Act, Family Medical Leave Act.
  • Professional certification from a recognized human resource/personnel association.
  • Human Resource experience in a higher education setting.
