Key Responsibilities
  • Obtain authorization for patients through pre-certification processes
  • Acquire authorization for ancillary testing, inpatient admissions, referrals to specialists, prescriptions, and durable medical equipment
  • Maintain current knowledge of practice sites managed care contracts and guidelines
  • Adhere to guidelines of contractual managed care regarding referrals and testing
  • Complete intake paperwork with patients, ensuring attestation is signed
  • Set up, record, and monitor EMR data related to authorization/pre-certification processes
  • Cancel and reschedule patient appointments as necessary
  • Greet and acknowledge patients and visitors, following standard operating procedures
  • Answer telephone calls, take messages, and route calls to appropriate personnel
  • Schedule patient appointments, both over the phone and in person, according to established protocols
  • Notify appropriate departments and physicians regarding admissions, referrals, and authorization in a timely manner
  • Be fully cross-trained in all front office functions
  • Follow the release of information process when records are requested
  • Ensure integrity of accounts receivable through accurate registration and insurance verification
  • Disseminate insurance information on covered services and protocols, as well as ancillary services
  • Ensure referrals are addressed in a timely manner
  • Contact patients regarding pending referrals
Requirements
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Detail-oriented and ability to take direction
  • High school diploma or equivalency
  • Strong computer skills: MS Office Suite
  • Effectively utilize electronic medical records
  • Able to work with minimal supervision successfully
  • Bilingual (Spanish/English) required

Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 11a-8p
