Job Summary

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Patient Service Representative to join our team at Medix. As a Patient Service Representative, you will be responsible for providing exceptional patient care and administrative support to our healthcare team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Verify patient demographic and insurance information, updating as necessary
  • Assist patients with completing registration forms and collecting co-payments as needed
  • Schedule patient appointments and coordinate follow-up appointments, referrals, and diagnostic tests as directed by the provider
  • Confirm appointments with patients via phone, email, or text message as needed
  • Verify patient insurance coverage, eligibility, and benefits using electronic systems or contacting insurance carrier
  • Obtain pre-authorizations and referrals for procedures and services as required by payers
  • Provide information to patients regarding appointment scheduling, practice policies, and services offered
  • Deliver messages to healthcare providers and clinical staff as needed
  • Assist with administrative tasks, such as filing, faxing, scanning, and organizing medical records
Requirements
  • High school diploma or GED
  • 1+ years experience in healthcare scheduling and/or medical front office (or similar)
  • Experience obtaining benefits and eligibility
  • Experience collecting co-payments
Preferred Qualifications
  • Athena EMR experience (preferred, not required)
