Director of Inpatient Behavioral Health Services

The Director of Inpatient Behavioral Health Services is responsible for overseeing the efficient operation of the hospital's Inpatient Behavioral Health services, ensuring alignment with ARH goals and corporate guidelines.
Key Responsibilities:
Develops and implements work standards and procedures in compliance with unit policies, governmental regulations, and regulatory agency requirements.
Formulates and prepares routine and special reports, and serves on hospital committees as needed.
Manages the personnel function, including interviewing, selecting, evaluating, disciplining, and terminating personnel or recommending such actions as necessary.
Ensures employees receive orientation and required in-service training.
Determines staffing needs and patterns, and recommends appropriate staffing levels and classifications consistent with unit position authorization.
Manages Inpatient Behavioral Health services effectively by planning, organizing, monitoring, and evaluating all department activities.
Formulates and implements department objectives in accordance with unit goals.
Evaluates the quality and appropriateness of services provided in the department through an ongoing program of quality assurance.
Maintains up-to-date knowledge and skills in the field of service to recommend new services, products, and equipment.
Negotiates agency contracts when delegated, pertaining to Inpatient Behavioral Health operations.
Coordinates Inpatient Behavioral Health services with community stakeholders and agencies, including local Community Mental Health Centers, in partnership with Behavioral Health Service Line Leadership.
Evaluates staff proficiency and performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Master's degree preferred, with a Master's in Health Administration (MHA) or Master's in Business Administration (MBA) strongly preferred.
Minimum 5+ years of Inpatient Behavioral Health experience, with healthcare operations/leadership experience preferred.
Ability to communicate effectively, document information accurately, and work independently within general guidelines.
Knowledge of basic medical terminology and basic computer knowledge required.
Ability to work with adults experiencing mental health disturbances or dual diagnoses.
