We are currently in search of a Manager of Embedded Software Engineering, specializing in Battery Software. This role calls for an experienced engineering leader with a robust background in embedded controls software development. The ideal candidate will possess a proactive mindset and inspire their team with vision and empathy. Candidates should demonstrate excellence in their fields, exhibit a capacity for rapid learning and adaptation, and strive for excellence in a dynamic environment.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead and develop a high-performing team of embedded software engineers focused on a diverse array of battery products.
  • Contribute to our esteemed Battery Management System (BMS) utilized in mass-market passenger vehicles, electrified motorsports, and stationary energy storage solutions.
  • Oversee both model-based and hand-coded software development processes for our BMS.
  • Direct the design and implementation of mission-critical and safety-focused software features.
  • Integrate real-time operating system (RTOS) functionalities developed by the Platform Software team.
  • Coordinate verification and validation efforts for software features.
  • Ensure seamless collaboration and co-development with battery algorithms development and testing engineers to deliver high-quality, production-ready software efficiently.
  • Provide valuable insights and design guidance for cloud-based battery management solutions.
  • Encourage effective collaboration with BMS stakeholders, including electrical, mechanical, systems, controls, platform, and data teams, to achieve excellence in system reliability, performance, and user experience.
  • Inspire and motivate the team through exemplary leadership.
Essential Qualifications:
  • A minimum of 3 years of proven experience in leading the development and deployment of mission-critical embedded software for mass-market applications in sectors such as automotive, aerospace, robotics, medical devices, or consumer electronics.
  • A strong track record of leading, motivating, and nurturing engineering teams.
  • Demonstrated people management skills over the past three years.
  • Exceptional communication abilities with cross-functional teams regarding product requirements, system architecture, and project timelines.
  • Deep commitment to developing high-quality, robust, and resource-efficient software solutions.
  • Expertise in operating systems concepts and hardware peripherals.
  • Proficiency in C/C++ and debugging embedded systems.
  • Familiarity with MATLAB and Simulink.
  • Experience with best practices and standards in safety-critical software development environments.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • In-depth knowledge of electric vehicle Battery Management Systems (BMS).
  • Familiarity with AUTOSAR.
  • Understanding of battery control and estimation algorithms.
  • Knowledge of ISO26262 and ASPICE standards.
Educational Background:
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science.
