Position Overview:
The Lead Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for the development, validation, implementation, and maintenance of methods, workflows, and systems for efficient production. This role involves estimating manufacturing costs, determining requirements, and coordinating the introduction of new or existing products.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design, implement, and sustain methodologies, operational sequences, and processes for the fabrication of parts, components, and assemblies.
  • Develop and execute optimal, cost-effective manufacturing processes in alignment with product specifications and quality standards, including production flow, PFMEA, shop floor control, assembly techniques, and equipment selection.
  • Propose and enact enhancements to production processes, methodologies, and controls.
  • Assist management in refining the production control system, standard operating procedures, safety protocols, quality assurance, and training programs.
  • Design, develop, test, and/or source various tools, machinery, and equipment to support recommended manufacturing methods.

Product Launch Coordination:
  • Collaborate with design, product engineering, and customers to facilitate the introduction of new products.
  • Oversee the manufacturing launch of new or revised products, including goal establishment, team training, and results evaluation.
  • Manage the transition of hardware products from design to manufacturing.
  • Provide design for manufacturability (DFM) and PFMEA in collaboration with customers and hardware development engineering.
  • Ensure that products are built to the correct specifications.

Cost Estimation and Process Analysis:
  • Estimate manufacturing costs, establish time standards, and recommend tooling and process requirements for new or existing product lines.
  • Conduct product/process analysis aimed at cost reduction, quality enhancement, and efficiency improvement.
  • Design and procure tooling and fixtures necessary for the manufacturing process.
  • Create manufacturing labor and non-recurring engineering (NRE) quotes, and update cycle times promptly.
  • Manage engineering change orders (ECO) and manufacturing change orders (MCO), updating instructions and tooling as necessary, and coordinating with production for implementation.

Record Maintenance:
  • Maintain records and reporting systems to coordinate manufacturing operations effectively.

Cross-Functional Engineering Support:
  • Provide engineering support and share technical expertise across various functions.
  • Engage in product/process analysis for cost reduction, quality improvement, and enhanced efficiency.
  • Participate in root cause analysis for defective products or returns.
  • Review and analyze quality data, suggesting corrective and preventive actions to improve yield.
  • Deliver training to production supervisors, leads, and operators regarding special process requirements.

Qualifications:
Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Electronics, or a related field. A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in Supplier, Process, and Customer Quality within an EMS environment or equivalent education. Advanced knowledge and troubleshooting skills in process engineering systems and tools, including CAD software, MES, and traceability interfaces. Familiarity with various software tools related to tooling management, maintenance management, and quality control is essential.
