Job Description

Job Title: Financial Planning & Analysis Specialist

Location: Remote

Duration: 6+ months Contract

Position Overview: We are in search of a proficient Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) Specialist to enhance our financial operations. The successful candidate will be instrumental in overseeing and interpreting financial data associated with discretionary expenditures, procurement orders, temporary workforce, and capital investments (CapEx) within our engineering division. This role demands a comprehensive grasp of financial modeling, budgeting, forecasting, and the capacity to deliver actionable insights that facilitate strategic decision-making in a technical and operational context.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Financial Analysis Reporting: Execute thorough financial analysis and reporting centered on discretionary expenditures, procurement orders, temporary labor, and CapEx within the engineering sector. Design and sustain intricate financial models tailored to the specific requirements of engineering operations. Generate comprehensive monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports, inclusive of variance analysis against budgets and forecasts pertinent to engineering initiatives.
  2. Budgeting and Forecasting for Engineering Operations: Spearhead the budgeting process for the engineering division, ensuring alignment with overarching corporate financial objectives. Collaborate closely with engineering leadership to formulate precise and realistic financial forecasts, considering project timelines, resource distribution, and operational necessities. Continuously assess and revise forecasts to mirror shifts in engineering priorities and business dynamics.
  3. Procurement Orders and CapEx Management: Supervise and evaluate procurement orders linked to engineering projects, ensuring they conform to budgetary limits and strategic goals. Monitor and report on CapEx initiatives within engineering, ensuring compliance with financial policies, project timelines, and budgetary constraints. Partner with procurement, project management, and engineering teams to streamline procurement processes and CapEx expenditures, ensuring optimal resource utilization.
  4. Temporary Workforce Analysis in Engineering: Provide financial analysis and reporting on the utilization of temporary workers within engineering, encompassing cost-benefit analysis, headcount monitoring, and budget adherence. Assist engineering management in making informed decisions regarding temporary labor usage by delivering detailed financial insights.
  5. Strategic Financial Support for Engineering Operations: Collaborate with engineering leaders to offer financial counsel and recommendations on discretionary expenditures, CapEx projects, and temporary labor strategies, ensuring alignment with overall business objectives. Identify opportunities for cost reductions and process enhancements within engineering financial operations, contributing to the department's efficiency and effectiveness.
  6. Compliance & Governance in Engineering Finance: Ensure compliance with financial policies, procedures, and internal controls related to discretionary expenditures, procurement orders, temporary workforce, and CapEx within the engineering division. Assist in audits and compliance reviews by providing necessary financial data and documentation specific to engineering operations.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Engineering, or a related discipline. 3-5 years of experience in FP&A, with a focus on supporting engineering or technical operations. Strong analytical skills with expertise in financial modeling and data analysis, particularly within an engineering context. Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and experience with financial planning software (e.g., Hyperion, SAP, Oracle). Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with engineers and technical teams.
