POSITION SUMMARY

The Facilities Coordinator, under the guidance of the Senior Director of Facility Operations, is tasked with managing the daily functions of our facilities. This role encompasses resource management, adherence to safety regulations, and the creation of a positive work atmosphere. The ideal candidate will possess strong organizational, administrative, and interpersonal skills to effectively meet the diverse demands of our facilities.

This position is essential for the operational success and upkeep of all properties managed by the San Diego LGBT Community Center. Responsibilities include overseeing maintenance activities, ensuring compliance with agency policies, and maintaining high standards of service. Hands-on maintenance experience is essential.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Facility Maintenance:
    • Schedule and coordinate regular maintenance, repairs, and inspections.
    • Ensure compliance with safety and regulatory standards across all facilities.
    • Act as the primary contact for external vendors and specialists.
    • Oversee landscaping and the aesthetic upkeep of grounds.
    • Lead maintenance and inspections at various properties.

  1. Space Management:
    • Maximize the effective use of space within all facilities.
    • Coordinate office layouts and relocations as directed.
    • Maintain accurate records of space usage.

  1. Security and Safety:
    • Implement security measures to protect the facility and its occupants.
    • Conduct safety inspections and address any hazards.
    • Participate in the Safety Committee.

  1. Vendor Management:
    • Communicate with external vendors and service providers.
    • Gather and assess vendor proposals for services.
    • Ensure adherence to service agreements.

  1. Administrative Support:
    • Assist in planning and executing facility-related projects.
    • Maintain financial records related to facility expenditures.
    • Address inquiries from staff and tenants.

  1. Communication:
    • Effectively communicate with staff, management, and external stakeholders.
    • Facilitate regular meetings for facility updates.

Required Qualifications:

  • Experience: Minimum of 2 years in facilities maintenance or related fields, with hands-on experience in plumbing and repairs.
  • Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to convey technical information clearly.
  • Personal Attributes: Friendly and approachable; comfortable engaging with staff and tenants; familiarity with LGBTQ+ communities.
  • Technical Skills: Proficient in PC/Windows environments and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Language Proficiency: Fluent in English.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience: At least 2 years in facilities coordination, with knowledge of building systems.
  • Skills: Proven ability to work with diverse populations.
  • Language Proficiency: Fluency in Spanish is highly desirable.
