POSITION SUMMARY

The Facilities Coordinator, under the guidance of the Senior Director of Facility Operations, is tasked with managing the daily operations of our facilities. This role encompasses overseeing facility resources, ensuring adherence to safety regulations, and cultivating a productive working atmosphere. A blend of organizational, administrative, and interpersonal skills is essential to meet the varied needs of our facilities.

The Facilities Coordinator is pivotal in maintaining the operational efficiency of all properties managed by the San Diego LGBT Community Center. Responsibilities include coordinating maintenance activities, ensuring compliance with all relevant policies, and maintaining high standards of excellence. Hands-on maintenance experience is a prerequisite.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Facility Maintenance:
    • Organize and schedule routine maintenance, repairs, and inspections.
    • Ensure all facilities comply with safety and regulatory standards.
    • Act as the primary contact for external vendors and specialists.
    • Oversee landscaping and upkeep of grounds.
    • Lead maintenance and inspections at various properties.

  1. Space Management:
    • Maximize the efficient use of space within all facilities.
    • Coordinate office layouts and relocations as directed.
    • Maintain accurate records of space allocations.

  1. Security and Safety:
    • Implement and uphold security measures to protect the facility and its occupants.
    • Conduct regular safety assessments and address potential risks.
    • Participate as a member of the Safety Committee.

  1. Vendor Management:
    • Communicate with external vendors and service providers.
    • Gather and assess vendor proposals for services.
    • Ensure compliance with service level agreements.

  1. Administrative Support:
    • Assist in planning and executing facility-related projects.
    • Maintain records of facility expenditures and assist with budgeting.
    • Address inquiries from facility staff and tenants.

  1. Communication:
    • Effectively communicate with employees, management, and external stakeholders.
    • Facilitate regular meetings for facility updates with the Senior Director.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Education/Experience: Minimum of 2 years in facilities maintenance or a related field, including hands-on experience in maintenance tasks such as plumbing and general repairs.
  • Professional Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills for interaction with colleagues and contractors.
  • Personal Skills: Friendly and approachable demeanor; comfortable discussing facility maintenance with staff and tenants; familiarity with LGBTQ+ communities.
  • Technology Skills: Proficient in PC/Windows environments and Microsoft Office Suite, especially Word, Outlook, and Excel.
  • Language Skills: Fluent in English.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Education/Experience: At least 2 years in facilities coordination with knowledge of building systems and maintenance.
  • Professional Skills: Proven ability to work with diverse populations.
  • Language Skills: Fluency in Spanish is highly desirable.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS:

  • Compensation: The salary for this position is $26.00 per hour, commensurate with experience. This is a Full-Time Regular Non-Exempt position.
