Part-Time IT Support Specialist

Job Summary:

The Applied Research Laboratory at Penn State University is seeking a highly motivated and customer service-oriented individual for the role of Part-Time IT Support Specialist. This position will provide customer support for the Applied Research Laboratory at the Pennsylvania State University.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist file exchange users with password resets, MFA resets, and new account setup
  • Assist file exchange users unlock suspended accounts
  • Add/remove permissions to file exchange share spaces and delete inactive user accounts
  • Set up new file folder structures as requested by ARL staff
  • Create group permissions, troubleshoot any file access issues
  • Investigate application issues, perform cause analysis, and take corrective actions
  • Perform yearly audits
  • Create/update documentation and frequently asked questions
  • Update the user data in the Supply Chain Database; as new suppliers are added, ensure their user information is reflected in Database

Requirements:

  • Past success in providing clear and concise written communication to an audience
  • Demonstrated ability to work through complex problems, using proper steps to define and formulate ideas to reach a solution
  • Success in an office environment, where various forms of communication and organizational skills were crucial to be effective
  • Demonstrated ability to exercise discretion
  • Ability to express yourself and ideas successfully to others in order to provide understanding
  • Demonstrated organization skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Current secret government security clearance

Work Environment:

The working location will be fully on-site, located in State College, PA.
