**HIRING BONUS**

LATERAL - UP TO $15,000

The Department of Human Resources maintains a continuous recruitment for lateral transfers and evaluates eligible candidates upon receipt of an application.

Minimum Qualifications:
Individuals must be currently employed as a sworn peace officer in a recognized agency and possess valid certification to apply.

Salary Range:
Deputy Sheriff I: $5,446.49-$6,698.49 per month
Deputy Sheriff II: $6,004.75-$7,385.09 per month

POSITION SUMMARY

Under supervision, this role encompasses a variety of law enforcement responsibilities aimed at safeguarding life and property, enforcing laws and regulations, responding to emergencies, conducting criminal investigations, and providing assistance to the community.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This position does not exercise supervision over others.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conducts patrols on foot, bicycle, and in department vehicles to ensure security and compliance with laws and regulations while exercising sound judgment in challenging situations.
  • Responds to service calls, investigates incidents, and takes appropriate action, including apprehending suspects and conducting searches.
  • Gathers evidence, interviews witnesses, and prepares detailed reports for law enforcement records.
  • Handles public service calls and manages potentially volatile situations, providing testimony in court as required.
  • Serves legal documents and conducts sobriety tests when necessary, ensuring compliance with laws.
  • Responds to various emergencies, including fires and medical situations, providing first aid as needed.
  • Collaborates with local law enforcement agencies to address and mitigate illegal activities.
  • Maintains accurate records and documentation related to law enforcement activities.
  • Utilizes and maintains law enforcement equipment and weapons in accordance with safety protocols.
  • Engages in community outreach and crime prevention initiatives to foster positive relationships with the public.
  • Stays informed on public safety developments through training and professional development opportunities.
  • Demonstrates cultural competency and sensitivity towards diverse communities.
ADDITIONAL DUTIES
  • May perform duties as Deputy Coroner in specific cases, including determining cause of death and assisting in legal proceedings.
  • Represents the department in community events and may act as a spokesperson.
  • May be assigned to disaster response duties as needed.
  • Performs other related responsibilities as assigned.
WORK ENVIRONMENT

The work environment includes both office settings and outdoor conditions, with potential exposure to hazardous situations. Employees may be required to travel and adjust to varying work schedules.
