POSITION OVERVIEW
The role of the Forensic Psychologist encompasses a variety of responsibilities aimed at supporting the criminal justice system. This position involves:
- Full-time Commitment: 40 hours per week.
- Diagnostic Evaluations: Conducting assessments of individuals in custody to identify their mental health needs and post-release care requirements.
- Competency Assessments: Utilizing forensic psychological expertise to evaluate individuals' suitability for diversion and their competency to stand trial.
- Court Engagement: Regularly updating the court, providing testimony during hearings, and ensuring the court is informed about clients' progress.
- Consultation Services: Advising other clinicians on competency evaluations and assisting legal professionals in understanding treatment options.
- Liaison Role: Facilitating communication between court officials and treatment providers to ensure comprehensive care.
- Legal Knowledge: Addressing legal inquiries related to clients in collaboration with attorneys and mental health professionals.
- Progress Reporting: Ensuring timely updates to the court as mandated by court orders.
- Care Plan Development: Considering legal stipulations when creating individualized care plans.
- Training and Collaboration: Providing mental health training to probation officers and law enforcement to better serve clients with co-occurring disorders.
- Treatment Evaluation: Assessing client responses to treatment and adjusting strategies accordingly, involving clients in decision-making.
- Evidence-Based Practices: Implementing various therapeutic modalities, including psychotherapy and cognitive-behavioral therapy.
- Record Review: Analyzing relevant documentation from both the criminal justice and mental health systems to inform treatment recommendations.
- Report Retrieval: Collecting necessary reports for court use as required.
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
- Annual Salary: $150,000 - $165,000 for full-time W-2 employees.
