Overview
Position: Legal Assistant - Adjudication Services - Temporary Role
- Full-time commitment of up to 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday.
- Applicants must be at least 18 years old and possess a valid driver's license.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the operations of the Adjudication Services under the guidance of the Staff Attorney.
- Prepare and draft notifications for administrative hearings.
- Facilitate participation in both remote and in-person hearings.
- Assist the public and individuals representing themselves in matters before the office.
- Conduct research and contribute to various office projects.
- Perform additional related duties as necessary.
About Us:
The Adjudication Services operates within the Department of Energy and Environmental Protection, overseeing hearings and issuing written determinations in contested cases related to environmental permits, licenses, and enforcement issues. These hearings may be initiated by parties or the public and are governed by applicable laws and regulations.
Selection Process:

Job Purpose:
This role involves performing various tasks as a temporary employee within the Department of Energy and Environmental Protection.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Ability to follow detailed instructions.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in drafting, reviewing, and managing legal documents.
- Background as a legal assistant or paralegal supporting multiple attorneys in a governmental or corporate setting.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Teams, Word, Adobe, and Zoom.
- Experience in processing hearing materials and developing efficient procedures for data management.
- Strong written communication skills with attention to detail.
- Ability to engage with diverse populations and coordinate public meetings.
- Experience in a collaborative work environment and managing multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines.
