POSITION OVERVIEW:
The Hartford Site Supervisor is responsible for leading legal services in Hartford and Waterbury, overseeing staff, and managing daily operations under the Director of Immigration Legal Services.
They play a crucial role in the CIRI Management Team and contribute to monthly immigration legal training.As a legal support specialist, they assist immigrants and families with a variety of immigration issues, including naturalization, visa applications, asylum requests, and family reunification.
Non-attorney legal caseworkers under their guidance work towards DOJ Accreditation and must apply within their first year of employment. This role also requires working towards DOJ Accreditation within one year of employment.KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provide confidential legal consultations and conduct initial assessments on immigration cases to determine eligibility for immigration benefits.
Advise and assist immigrants and their families with various applications for immigration benefits, including but not limited to, naturalization, family reunification petitions, and adjustment of status.
Complete case-related applications and petitions, supporting documentation, and professional records of services.Carefully monitor and maintain electronic and paper files for each client and case, adhering to CIRI guidelines as part of an organized caseload.
Oversee the management of all aspects of CIRI's Hartford Office and Waterbury Extension Office, with support from the Director of Immigration Legal Services, providing guidance, oversight, and supervision of site immigration and reception staff.
Ensure compliance with program and grant policies, requirements, and outcomes.Prepare weekly deposits for the Hartford office and submit weekly deposit reports to operations.
Collaborate with CIRI's CFO to ensure proper cash management in the Hartford office.
Coordinate office management with the operations team, reception, and landlord.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor's degree preferred
Previous experience as a paralegal or BIA Accredited Representative for a BIA recognized agency, or equivalent knowledge of immigration laws and procedures preferred.
Bilingual in English and Spanish required.Excellent writing, organizational, and communication skills.
Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
Compassion for vulnerable clients and the ability to effectively communicate with clients from diverse backgrounds and experiences.
Commitment to the agency's core values and mission to assist immigrants and their families.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite including Excel, and experience with case management programs.
Minimum of 2 years of experience supervising and managing teams; experience supervising legal staff or interns preferred.
