About the Role

The Behavior Specialist plays a crucial role in delivering educational and behavioral services to children and adults with special needs. This position involves collaboration with educational professionals and fellow specialists to meet learning and behavioral objectives.
Key Responsibilities
  • Adhere to the directives of the BCBA/program supervisor/teacher.
  • Deliver behavioral support and interventions to assigned clients.
  • Implement ABA teaching strategies effectively.
  • Provide behavior support services as needed.
  • Engage in crisis intervention when necessary.
  • Review and execute behavior intervention plans.
  • Monitor and implement behavioral goals outlined in IEPs.
  • Document sessions in accordance with established policies.
  • Accurately collect and manage data.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality at all times.
  • Assist clients in developing independent living skills through self-care activities.
  • Implement behavior management techniques as instructed by the supervising teacher.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Requirements

About You

Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • A passion for working with children and making a positive impact.
  • Availability: Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM (part-time or potentially full-time).
  • Two years of relevant experience in an educational setting preferred.
  • Current CPR certification preferred.
  • Strong communication skills for effective interaction with supervisors, colleagues, and clients.
  • Proficiency in computer usage is required.
  • Ability to work with a diverse population.
  • Reliable transportation for travel to various service areas.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills; bilingual ability is a plus.
  • Demonstrated good judgment and decision-making abilities.
Physical Requirements

Physical demands may include:
  • Constant visual engagement, including close and distance vision.
  • Frequent sitting and standing.
  • Regular use of a telephone and computer.
  • Occasional lifting of items up to 20 pounds.
Salary Range

$20-$25 per hour.
