Position Summary:

This role is integral to the programmatic and engineering initiatives necessary for the enhancement of Non-Propulsion Electronic Systems (NPES) and associated equipment on submarines. The selected candidate will engage in the evaluation, endorsement, and planning of NPES modernization efforts, directly impacting the operational readiness of the submarine fleet. This position requires the individual to become a subject matter expert in NPES, providing critical insights that will shape significant programmatic decisions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver engineering and technical support services for the oversight, analysis, evaluation, maintenance, and review of submarine modernization management and planning documentation.
  • Facilitate the review, comment resolution, and approval processes for Justification Cost Forms (JCFs), Ship Alteration Records (SARs), Engineering Change Instructions (ECIs), Alteration and Improvements (A&Is), Ship Installation Drawings (SIDs), Liaison Action Records (LARs), and Government Furnished Information (GFI) documentation in collaboration with relevant stakeholders.
  • Maintain and manage modernization documentation, ensuring accuracy and compliance within the designated data information systems.
  • Provide weekly metrics and status updates on all modernization documentation to the In-Service Program Manager, supporting program reviews and approvals.

Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in a technical field is required, or a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience.
  • At least 5 years of experience within Navy/NAVSEA/Naval Shipyard environments is mandatory.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Submarine Non-Propulsion Electronic Systems or Hull, Mechanical, Electrical Systems is highly desirable.
  • Familiarity with Configuration Management processes is preferred.

Skills and Competencies:

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, along with strong presentation abilities.
  • Ability to interact effectively with military and organizational personnel at all levels.
  • Demonstrated reliability and initiative in a dynamic work environment with shifting priorities.

Additional Requirements:

Security Clearance: An active Secret clearance is necessary.

Work Environment:

This position operates within a professional office setting, utilizing standard office equipment such as computers and telecommunication devices.

Physical Requirements:

The physical demands for this role require effective communication skills, including the ability to listen actively. The employee may frequently need to stand, walk, and use hands for various tasks.

Work Schedule:

The standard workday consists of eight hours, typically from 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM, with some flexibility allowed. Employees must be available during core hours of 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM.

Telework Policy:

Telework is permitted up to 40%, with three days in the office and two days of remote work, contingent on customer needs.

Travel Requirements:

Occasional travel within the continental United States (CONUS) may be required, up to 10%.
