Position Overview

The Senior Engineering Manager will oversee product innovation initiatives for various offerings, focusing on technical specialties and processes, including the integration of engines and airends, as well as the design of their subsystems. This role is pivotal in achieving both immediate and long-term objectives to fulfill quality, functionality, customer feedback, and competitive advantage requirements.



Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the integration of advanced engines and airends along with their subsystems to support future product lines.
  • Conduct research and development efforts to align with product roadmaps for portable compressors, generators, and light towers.
  • Steer product development projects across various stages, managing budgets and timelines as outlined in strategic plans.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams and engage in operational meetings to assess the readiness of major projects for production.
  • Identify opportunities for continuous enhancement in the product development process and engineering systems.
  • Ensure the team effectively addresses and resolves field issues and warranty claims related to engines and airends.
  • Enhance product quality and reliability through warranty and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Oversee the financial implications of product development efforts.
  • Maintain a global perspective in new product development to ensure manufacturability and distribution.
  • Provide strategic direction throughout the product development lifecycle, leveraging historical knowledge and aligning with company goals.
  • Employ innovative problem-solving techniques, engaging the team to explore new methods and refine existing processes.
  • Encourage a culture of creativity and support diverse perspectives within the engineering department.
  • Lead and sponsor innovation initiatives and challenges.
  • Manage a small team, including engineers and interns.
  • Effectively organize tasks and objectives for team members.
  • Monitor project progress and make necessary adjustments to personnel and resources to achieve goals.
  • Foster employee growth and development, outlining strategies for succession planning and identifying essential skills for a diverse team.
  • Remove obstacles to ensure project execution aligns with plans.
  • Build strong interdepartmental relationships to enhance collaboration.



Qualifications

  • Proven experience in leading engineering teams in product development, focusing on engines or airends.
  • In-depth knowledge of modern and legacy emissions-certified diesel engine functionality.
  • Strong understanding of fluid system design for diesel engines and airends.
  • Advanced competency in Thermodynamics and Heat Transfer.
  • Familiarity with heat exchanger analysis and the relationship between heat load and system performance.
  • Experience applying the First Law of Thermodynamics in practical scenarios.
  • Background in power analysis related to compressors, generators, or mobile construction machinery.
  • Ability to cultivate strong relationships across various organizational functions and mentor engineers at different career stages.
  • Capacity for leading change and providing innovative solutions while influencing multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Familiarity with project management methodologies and tools.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering; MBA preferred.
  • Experience: Less than 7 years.
  • Travel: Less than 10%.
