PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The role of the Production Technician encompasses Batch Production, Equipment Operation, and Material Handling.
Equipment Operation - The Equipment Operator is tasked with the filling and packaging of paint products into containers. This position includes responsibilities such as Filler Operator, Set-Up Operator, Case Packer Operator, Label Operator, and Palletizer Operator.
Reads instructions on batch tickets to accurately configure various filling and packaging machinery for automated operation.
Lifts and maneuvers hoses weighing up to 50 lbs. for connection to the piping system.
Operates valves located at different levels and orientations.
Drives a forklift to move pallets of materials within the facility, loading finished products from the Fill Line onto transport vehicles, and unloading packaging materials from trucks.
Lifts and positions stacks of labels, lids, pails, and cartons weighing up to 50 lbs. from ground level to overhead.Climbs and descends stairs and ladders during the filling process.
Lifts and positions 5-gallon pails of product weighing up to 65 lbs. from waist height to floor level.
Completes necessary documentation involved in the filling process.
Utilizes cleaning equipment (brushes, brooms, shovels, dustpans, mops, etc.) for general maintenance tasks.
Adheres to required safety protocols as necessary.
Batch Production - The Batch Producer is responsible for creating batches of paint by adhering to established procedures.
The Manufacturer role includes responsibilities of Batch Production Operators:
Follows instructions and departmental protocols to add raw materials to mixing tanks for paint production.
Moves 50 lb. drums with the aid of a two-wheeled cart or drum handler attached to a walk-behind lift.
Opens, lifts, and dumps bags of raw materials weighing 50 lbs. into mixing tanks repeatedly.
Occasionally lifts and dumps pails weighing up to 50 lbs.
Operates valves, sets, and activates meters (which may be automatic) located at various levels and orientations.
Drives a straddle stacker vehicle to transport drums, totes, and pallets of materials.Completes necessary documentation involved in the manufacturing process.
Utilizes cleaning equipment (brushes, brooms, shovels, dustpans, mops, etc.) for general maintenance tasks.
Wears required safety equipment as necessary, including half-face and full-face respirators.
Material Handling - Responsibilities may include loading or unloading shipments, picking and pulling orders, and operating various machinery and equipment.
Material Handling personnel include shipping and receiving roles:
Loads and unloads shipments, verifies materials and packing slips, and stocks items appropriately.
Pulls, picks, and stages orders based on customer or production requirements, prepares items for shipment or production, and completes relevant documentation or updates system records.
Operates a forklift and other machinery or tools to transport, move, stock, and store materials and products.Completes relevant documentation and/or enters data regarding incoming materials, work-in-progress, outgoing orders, and other operations to ensure accurate records and counts.
Assists in maintaining an inventory of materials, products, and goods, including performing cycle counts, calculations, and data entry.
Ensures compliance with operational policies and procedures to maintain a safe and efficient working environment; may require the use of safety equipment or gear.
Assists in maintaining a clean and safe working environment and may perform various janitorial or housekeeping tasks.Communicates with production, quality control, maintenance, and other departments to ensure a safe and effective environment and to guarantee quality products.
Participates in various committees and problem-solving teams in a professional manner.POSITION REQUIREMENTS

Ability to troubleshoot basic equipment-related issues. More complex issues should be reported to management.

1 year or more of experience in a manufacturing setting
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Must be able to sit, stand, hear, and see consistently.
Must be able to walk, write, and type frequently.
Must be able to lift and carry up to specified weights.
Must be able to climb and descend stairs.
Must be able to bend, carry, reach, push, and pull occasionally.
Must be able to communicate verbally and in writing.
May work indoors and outdoors as required. Exposure to extreme seasonal temperatures.
May work in areas with high noise levels requiring hearing protection.
May work in environments where toxic, flammable, and hazardous materials are present.
May be exposed to varying levels of dust and dirt.
Work surfaces may include concrete.
Employee must be able to tolerate non-toxic paint odors and wear a respirator as required.
Employee must be able to operate a computer and communicate via telephone.
TECHNICAL/SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
Required:
Verification of customer codes, lot numbers, packaging materials, and raw materials.
Conduct inventories of packaging materials: labels, cartons, bottles, cans, glue, tape, stretch film, ink, etc.
Work collaboratively as part of a team or independently. Program label and inkjet printers.
Participate in general housekeeping activities.
Fulfill all requirements related to Batch Tracking functions.
Operate forklift.
Preferred:
Experience with employee direct access systems such as GEMS.
