Position Overview

The Senior Engineering Manager will oversee the development of various products, ensuring the integration of engines and airends, alongside the design of their subsystems. This role is pivotal in aligning both short-term and long-term strategies to fulfill quality, functionality, customer satisfaction, and competitive advantage requirements.



Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the integration of advanced engines and airends, along with their subsystems, to support innovative product offerings.
  • Conduct research and development initiatives that align with product roadmaps for portable compressors, generators, and lighting solutions.
  • Steer product development efforts across multiple projects, managing timelines and budgets in accordance with strategic plans.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams and engage in product management discussions to assess project readiness for production.
  • Identify opportunities for continuous improvement in the product development lifecycle and enhance engineering systems.
  • Ensure the team effectively addresses field issues and warranty claims related to engines and airends.
  • Enhance product quality and reliability through warranty and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Oversee the financial implications of product development phases and functions.
  • Maintain a global perspective in new product development to ensure manufacturability and distribution.
  • Provide strategic guidance throughout the product development lifecycle, leveraging historical insights and aligning with corporate objectives.
  • Utilize innovative problem-solving techniques to engage the team and develop new processes or refine existing methodologies.
  • Encourage a culture of creativity and diversity of thought within the engineering department.
  • Lead innovation initiatives and events to foster new ideas.
  • Manage a small team of engineers and interns, ensuring efficient organization of tasks and goals.
  • Monitor project progress and adjust resources as necessary to achieve objectives, inspiring a culture of innovation and timely product development.
  • Develop strategies for employee growth and succession planning, identifying essential skills for a diverse team.
  • Remove obstacles to project execution, enabling effective implementation of plans.
  • Build collaborative relationships across engineering and other departments to enhance teamwork.



Qualifications

  • Proven experience in leading engineering teams through product development and optimization efforts, particularly with engines and airends.
  • In-depth knowledge of modern and legacy emissions-certified diesel engine functionality.
  • Strong understanding of fluid system design for diesel engines and airends.
  • Advanced competency in Thermodynamics and Heat Transfer.
  • Familiarity with heat exchanger analysis and the interplay between heat load and system performance.
  • Experience applying the First Law of Thermodynamics in practical scenarios.
  • Knowledge of power analysis related to compressors, generators, and mobile construction machinery.
  • Ability to cultivate strong interdepartmental relationships and mentor engineers at various career stages.
  • Proven capacity for leading change and providing innovative solutions while influencing cross-functional teams.
  • Familiarity with project management methodologies and tools.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering; MBA preferred.
  • Experience: Less than 7 years.
  • Travel: Minimal, less than 10%.
