Engineering Proteins for Agricultural Resilience

Climate change poses numerous challenges to global supply chains, particularly within the agricultural and food sectors.

As extreme weather events become more frequent and severe, innovative solutions are essential to ensure food security.

While much focus has been placed on farming techniques and crop modifications for climate resilience, there remains a lack of systematic solutions to address the impacts of severe droughts, irregular rainfall, and late frost occurrences.We believe that protein engineering can unlock a new category of solutions to confront these issues.

Advancements in AI and computational methods now enable the systematic design of novel proteins, targeting applications that were previously unattainable.

The Opportunity

We are developing a protein engineering platform that emphasizes water properties, creating a new category of impactful climate solutions.

By controlling the freezing process of water, we aim to assist the agricultural sector in mitigating extreme weather impacts and reducing food losses.


We are in the process of creating a groundbreaking suite of products designed to be first-in-class in mitigating hail and late frost damage in agriculture.

Additionally, these technologies have the potential to extend into energy-efficient food preservation and possibly cloud seeding to enhance rainfall in drought-affected regions.

Overall, this technology could increase global food production by $10-20 billion annually.

We have identified key proteins for engineering, guided by comprehensive technical roadmaps.

We are currently securing patents for our proprietary techniques and positioning ourselves as leaders in this emerging field.

Your Role

We are seeking a CEO and Co-Founder.

Your responsibilities will encompass a wide range of areas including product development, sales, partnership cultivation, operations, fundraising (equity and non-dilutive), team building, supplier management, scaling operations, and more.

The ideal candidate will possess the creativity, discipline, and drive to explore various strategies to maximize impact.


You will collaborate with a distinguished Chief Scientific Officer and Co-Founder, who holds a PhD in biochemical engineering and has extensive experience in synthetic biology, bioinformatics, and chemical engineering.

A trailblazer in directed evolution, he has contributed to the invention of many widely-used techniques today, and is recognized as a creative thinker and interdisciplinary scientist.

Qualifications

We are looking for an entrepreneurial individual with a strong passion for biotechnology, protein engineering, and a commitment to combating climate change.


Essential Qualifications:

Experience in leadership-related activities, exposure to climate technology, strong scientific literacy, and a customer-centric mindset.


Relevant Backgrounds May Include:
Previous startup founder/operator/venture capitalist in biotechnology, deep tech, bioinformatics, or computational biology with experience in protein production and purification at pilot scale. Familiarity with generative AI tools is advantageous.

OR Industry experience in agriculture, biotechnology, or climate sectors with a deep scientific curiosity and ideally prior exposure to synthetic biology in agriculture.
