Healthcare Customer Service Specialist

The Healthcare Customer Service Specialist embodies the mission, vision, and values of Northwestern Memorial Healthcare, adhering to the organization's Code of Ethics and Corporate Compliance Program while complying with all relevant policies, procedures, guidelines, and regulatory standards.
This role is essential in supporting the service area by managing patient check-in and check-out processes. The specialist will consistently demonstrate outstanding customer service while assisting patients and visitors.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Engage with patients and visitors by welcoming them upon arrival, verifying their identity, and providing essential information regarding their visit.
2. Execute check-in and check-out procedures as instructed.
3. Confirm and update patient identification along with demographic and insurance details.
4. Facilitate patient registration as required.
5. Secure patient consents and authorizations.
6. Collect co-payments, outstanding balances, and point-of-service payments.
7. Record payments, manage billing information, and conduct end-of-day cash drawer reconciliation.
8. Maintain a clean and comfortable waiting area.
9. Inform patients of any delays or modifications in appointment schedules.
10. Schedule appointments as necessary.
11. For specialists in Immediate Care Clinics, provide support across various clinics and departments.
12. May undertake additional duties as assigned.
