Position Summary: The Bindery Production Assistant plays a crucial role in supporting the Bindery Operator with the setup, adjustment, and safe operation of various bindery machinery, including MBO folders with pile and continuous feeders, Heidelberg/Stahl Folders, and Muller Martini-Presto saddle stitchers. This position is essential for producing high-quality finished products that align with customer specifications and quality standards.

Work Schedule: This position typically follows a 1st shift schedule from Monday to Friday, requiring eight or more hours per day based on operational needs. The primary working hours are generally from 5:00 AM to 1:30 PM, with potential training occurring at different times.

Compensation: The hourly wage ranges from $18.00 to $20.00, commensurate with experience.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Verify paper sheet sizes and types, ensuring all necessary materials are prepared.
  • Assist in managing the preparation of upcoming jobs for printing.
  • Support maintenance tasks and cleaning of press equipment.
  • Collaborate with the Lead Press Operator to maintain efficient press operations.
  • Actively participate in recycling efforts by removing waste materials.
  • Complete and maintain all required documentation and records.
  • Ensure all equipment and workstations are in optimal condition and free from safety hazards.
  • Promptly report any workplace hazards to management.
  • Utilize assigned Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as required.
  • Report any work-related injuries, illnesses, or near misses to management immediately.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization in the work area, adhering to housekeeping standards.
  • Follow all safety protocols and regulations to uphold a safe working environment.
  • Attend all departmental and company meetings as required.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in a fast-paced production or manufacturing setting.

Preferred:

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalency.
