We are seeking a skilled Saddle Stitching Machine Specialist to become an integral part of the Mittera Group. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for the operation of saddle stitcher machinery, ensuring that production standards are met while fostering a culture of safety and quality.
Key Responsibilities- Efficiently operate saddle stitcher machines to produce high-quality printed materials.
- Interpret job tickets, layout sheets, and artwork specifications prior to commencing tasks.
- Prepare and adjust equipment components including stackers, tiers, and mail heads.
- Manage all functions of the saddle stitcher, including pockets, gatherers, and trimmers.
- Support the operation of demographic and inkjet systems.
- Assist fellow operators during equipment downtime and collaborate on start-up procedures.
- Guide material handlers in maintaining workflow during production runs.
- Promote and uphold safety standards while seeking operational improvements.
- Engage in the training and development of finishing team members.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors regarding any operational challenges.
- Stay updated on new processes to enhance production efficiency.
- Conduct routine maintenance on assigned machinery and track maintenance needs.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA and EPA regulations as well as company safety protocols.
- Encourage teamwork and collaboration across shifts.
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- 1 to 3+ years of experience in a bindery environment.
- Familiarity with operating Mueller and Martini, Heidelberg, or Osako saddle stitchers is preferred.
- Experience with various bindery equipment such as binders, cutters, and folders is advantageous.
- Ability to meet quality and productivity benchmarks.
- Proficient in reading and understanding job specifications.
- Strong communication skills across all organizational levels.
- Basic math skills for practical problem-solving.
- Capability to interpret diverse instructions in various formats.
- Ability to thrive in high-pressure situations and meet tight deadlines.
- Organized with the ability to prioritize tasks independently.
- Basic computer skills are necessary.
- Self-motivated, dependable, and focused on quality and safety.
- Ability to perform physical tasks including lifting, pushing, and bending.
- Capability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination are essential.
- Near visual acuity is required for detailed work.
- Ability to navigate the facility and operate equipment safely.
- Maintain professionalism in stressful situations.
