Position Overview:
As an Anesthesia Support Specialist, you will provide essential assistance to the anesthesia team and the ambulatory surgery facility (ASF).
Your responsibilities will include managing equipment and supplies in the operating room while ensuring optimal environmental conditions within the ASF.

You will oversee the ordering and stocking of anesthesia supplies and equipment, as well as the setup, maintenance, and cleaning of all necessary tools used in anesthesia and surgical procedures.

It is essential to demonstrate proficiency in preparing operating room suites for anesthesia delivery, surgical interventions, and nursing care.

You will participate in patient care under the direct supervision of registered nurses and physicians.

Key Responsibilities:


Maintain daily inventory of supplies and restock as needed, including but not limited to:
- IV fluids, needles, and syringes.
- Regional anesthesia block cart supplies.
- Hats and booties at the entrance.
- Supply carts, scrub sink areas, cast cart, and anesthesia supply areas.
- Soap dispensers throughout the unit.
- Supplies in the Patient Holding area, ORs, and PACU.

Monitor restroom supplies and ensure cleanliness in the operating room.
Set up and dismantle equipment for ORs and anesthesia areas, providing environmental services and room turnover as required.
Check and replace sodalime in CO2 absorbers after each use.
Set up and test breathing circuits for leaks.
Collect and sterilize laryngoscope blades and LMAs using the Steris 1 System.

Clean and disinfect the Sonosite ultrasound machine and all reusable items at the end of each day, ensuring all necessary ultrasound probes and supplies are available.

Follow aseptic and sterile techniques while disposing of contaminated materials according to infection control policies.
Maintain cleanliness and organization in the OR and PACU, including managing post-op beds and ensuring hallways are free of clutter.
Run errands as directed, including the pickup and delivery of specimens and pharmacy items.

Communicate effectively with staff, physicians, patients, and families:
- Demonstrate courtesy, compassion, and respect in all interactions.
- Report any identified issues to the appropriate personnel.
- Seek guidance when uncertain.
- Assist with patient transfers and positioning under the direction of surgical staff.
- Support patients during anesthesia administration and monitor equipment prior to procedures.

Qualifications:
Certification as an Anesthesia Technician is required.

Education:
High School Diploma or GED (Required)

Preferred Experience:
- 1+ years of previous hospital experience.
- Graduate of an Anesthesia Technician program or related field.
